Katrina Lauder is a freelance french horn player based in the UK. She plays with world renowned symphony orchestras from all over the globe. Including Principal horn with The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Co-Principal horn with The London Philharmonic Orchestra and The Symphony Orchestra of India, as well as playing for shows in London’s west end. She has recorded albums with the likes of Annie Lennox and Ebe Oke and has toured with Sting on the album If on a Winter’s Night.
Katrina was born in Winchester, Hampshire. Early French horn studies took place in Buckinghamshire with David Lack. She then went on to study with Robert Ashworth, Principal horn of Opera North at the Royal Northern College of Music where she received the British Reserve prize for French horn.
Katrina has had several orchestral trials for horn positions in the UK and Europe. Both Principal and Co-Principal horn seats. She is principal horn of
The National Festival Orchestra and features on their recording of Tom Jones.
Education is a very important aspect of music making to Katrina. She is French horn tutor at Emanuel School in London and conducts the Emanuel Concert Band and Brass Ensemble.
In recent years Katrina has been dipping her toes into the world of conducting. Having been the Co-Musical Director of a Symphonic wind band in London for 2 years, she is now assistant Musical director at The Tulse Hill Choir.
